This isn’t Criss Angel turning a popcorn bag into a popcorn bowl exciting. This is how am I going to look at my microwave the same way again crazy.
A Northern California woman, Ka Yang, 29, of Sacramento was recently arrested on murder charges. Concluding a three month investigation, several medical professionals, forensic specialists, and police determined that the cause of death of Yang’s six-week-old daughter resulted from being burned in a microwave oven. In a statement from the arresting officer Laura Peck regarding why the investigation took so long to pinpoint,
“This is rare. The injuries were obviously very unique. There have been only three other documented cases in the entire country where the injuries were consistent with this case. … Those children were also burned and placed in the microwave.”
Those other three U.S. cases were found in Dayton, Ohio; Galveston, Texas; and New Kent County, Virginia.
Yang’s other three children, all under age 7, have since been relocated to other relatives.
