Scaptia (Plinthina) Beyonceae (or the fly named after Beyonce)

Ew. If you’re going to name something after me I don’t know if I’d want a fly to be it. (what happened to just naming distance stars after people?!)

A previously unnamed species of fly nicknamed as the horse “fly with the golden booty”, is now called Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae. In Honor of singer Beyonce.

Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization has consented to researcher Bryan Lessard’s naming of the fly that he describes as the  “all-time diva of flies.” It’s a pretty unique fly that was bonus fact: initially discovered in 1981, the same year Beyonce was born.

New mom Beyonce has given no comment. I recommend checking out the images of said diva fly, just because it’s fun.
