American Apparel: Victoria Secret Model’s Wear More Than Your Models…

American Apparel…gag me with a stick. Ugh. Why this clothing line refuses to appropriately clothe their models I don’t understand…(it’s pretty much become what they’re known for…interestingly enough I remember back in the day when Abercrombie Fitch was known for their no clothes wearing male in their catalogs. It was odd….) Correction– American Apparel doesn’t use MODELS! Just real customers pretty much. Another thing they’ve become known for. Why these women keep signing up for this is BEYOND ME. Well they’ve taken it to new heights recently  and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is pissed. They were required to pull almost all of their new adds over the blatant nudity.

The ASA said: ‘We considered that in the particular context of images which featured nudity and sexually provocative poses, there was a voyeuristic and ‘amateurish’ quality to the images which served to heighten the impression that the ads were exploitative of women and inappropriately sexualized young women.

Read more (warning, AA was like we’re just going to take pictures of naked women and see if we can play it off like we’re promoting leggings…) Shaking my head, I don’t get it..
