Thanks For the Kidney, Now You’re Fired!!

Not to suggest that Debbie Stevens of New York, deserved any sort of special treatment, even though she did a particularly special act of kindness, I’m just saying it’s pretty unreasonable that she’d be subjected to “harassment” for donating her kidney for her on the kidney waiting list boss.

Stevens has filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission against her former employer, Atlantic Automotive Group of West Islip

Her boss, Jackie Brucia, suffered from kidney disease and Stevens offered her hers. Stevens wasn’t a match but because her kidney went to another man, Brucia was moved up the list and did receive a match.

Following the 2011 transplant Brucia allegedly began harassing Stevens about not recuperating “quick enough”  (or as quick as her!)

I don’t know if this is the full story… but far it sounds kind of bad.

Debbie Steven regrets giving the kidney. Jackie Brucia has no comment.
